Lonicera sempervirens ‘Blanche Sandman’ is a semi-evergreen climber with blue-green leaves. Its lightly scented red flowers with yellow throats fade to rose-pink. A woody vine, this perennial needs strong support. It blooms on old wood so prune it just after flowering, if desired.

Lonicera sempervirens is native primarily to the Coastal Plains of the Southeastern United States from Texas to Florida into the mid-Atlantic, but may also be found as far northward as Maine, Michigan and Iowa.

Also called Honeysuckle, Lonicera sempervirens prefers sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil, but is drought tolerant once established. Like most Honeysuckle, Lonicera ‘Blanche Sandman’ is attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. It berries may be eaten by birds.
