Polygonatum humile, also known as Dwarf Solomon's Seal, produces numerous short, upright stems of small, very glossy green leaves. White, bell-shaped, green tipped flowers dangle from the leaf axils in early summer. They are followed by blue-black berries.
Polygonatum humile, also known as Dwarf Solomon’s Seal, produces numerous short, upright stems of small, very glossy green leaves. White, bell-shaped, green tipped flowers dangle from the leaf axils in early summer. They are followed by blue-black berries. Polygonatum humile spreads relatively quickly by rhizomes, but is not invasive. It makes a very pretty summer ground cover for the shade. This herbaceous perennial is native to eastern Europe and western Asia.
Polygonatum humile prefers partial shade and humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil, but it is happy even in deep shade and wet soil.
