Misnomers are not rare in the designation of plants, and this dramatic vine is no different. Not a Begonia at all, Rex Begonia Vines (or Cissus discolor) fall within the Cissus family, making them related to Cissus Amazonica and the rest of the Grape family. Internally, we think Goth Vine is the best nickname but we’ll let you be the judge of that.
LOCATION & LIGHT:
Cissus discolor prefers bright, indirect light and will burn in direct sun. Place close to an East facing window, or further back from a strong South or West exposure.
WATER:
Allow the first inch of soil to dry before watering. These vining beauties are humidity loving, so mist regularly and consider grouping with other house plants to increase relative humidity.
