Known as the blue star fern, these plants are coated in a silvery wax which gives them their blue colouring. This wax acts as a barrier against the intense sunlight of their native habitat, and makes them better-suited to bright positions than most other ferns. As epiphytes, these ferns prefer to be almost dry between waterings.
