Asclepiadaceae (Milkweed family)

A total of around 1000 species and approximately 120 infraspecific taxa from 70 genera are discussed. The most important genera are Caralluma, Echidnopis, Huernia, Orbea and Stapelia (together 250 species). Other important genera include Brachystelma (about 120 species) and Ceropegia (“candle flowers”, about 160 species).
