The succulent belongs to the genus Adromischus, which is classified in the Crassulaceae family. This succulent is native to the Canary Islands. It is a hybrid of Aeonium canariense x Aeonium arboreum ‘Zwartkop’.
Aeonium arboreum ‘Velours’ is greenish to reddish and has the growth form of a stem-forming rosette. The flower is yellow and arranged in an egg-shaped pattern. It develops during the flowering period from January to February. You will receive a large plant in a 17cm pot, with a height of about 40cm. The achievable height is 60cm to 100cm.
Let’s move on to the care of the Aeonium arboreum ‘Velours’. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil and mineral components is suitable as a substrate. Aeonium arboreum ‘Velours’ does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates too little water rather than too much. Fertilizing is possible every three to four weeks.
This succulent’s light requirement is met in a sunny location. This means a south-facing window with direct sunlight is best. The optimal temperature is between 20C and 30C. Aeonium arboreum ‘Velours’ can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sun. However, it should be brought back indoors at temperatures below 15C. In winter, the temperature should be around 15C. Furthermore, fertilizing stops and watering is reduced.
This succulent is best propagated by stem cuttings. In arrangements, it combines best with other succulents, such as Echeverias and Crassulas. Aeonium arboreum ‘Velours’ is generally non-toxic, but we cannot guarantee its suitability for animals.
Please note: Sizes and shapes may vary for plants, as each item is unique. This is especially true in winter or when availability is low. The color also varies depending on the season.
